Puerto Jiménez, this is the gateway to Osa and the nearest location to Río Nuevo (25 minutes away), situated on the harbor facing the Golfo Dulce.

It was known in the past for gold mining which created an increased settlement. This particular characteristic accompanied by logging industry made Puerto Jiménez an important small town with a straight-forward access nowadays.

It has a small hospital and lots of grocery stores, businesses that sell hardware and building supplies, restaurants and shops.

The entire population is about 7000 people with approximately 250 foreigners, mostly Americans living here at least part of the year.

Electricity, telephone, e-mail, fax and Internet are also available in this town.

With an airport with daily commuter flights from San José you can get here in just 55 minutes, or you can choose one of the two buses running to and from the capital.
